Which is better for the game? for the fans?

Will shoot-outs lose their excitment if they are too common?

Can a shoot-out compare to the fourth sudden-death overtime?

Why limit the goalies range to behind the net, I say we make him fair game if he leaves the crease.

Perhaps not everyone is familiar with the new rules.

Here's a comprehensive, official link.

Hmmm....

Well, I'm a firm believer that a shootout is a burtal way to lose/win a game. I don't like that idea at all. I would have preferred a three-on-three overtime for an additional five minutes.

I don't think the goalie rule will effect much. Goalies like Brodeur or Belfour who played the puck the most will quickly adapt to the new rule. And I agree, let's make 'em fair game!

Drop the puck!

I don't for the shoot out rule. I prefer the old rules because if the game was tied after regulation play you got to see more Hockey. More bang for the buck.

You still will. It's after the first overtime that you will see a shootout. So, indeed, more bang for your buck. But a sh1te way to lose a game.

But isn't the initial overtime very brief?

Yeah. It's five minutes.

I agree that losing in a shootout stinks but there were far too many ties. I'll reserve judgement until I see how the new system works out.

It doesn't matter. The Stars are going to bring back the Cup where it belongs.😀

I'm exited about the rule that says your team can't make a line-change after you ice the puck. Hopefully this will limit the icings.

Overall, the new rules should make the game more exciting BUT they must enforce the obstruction penalties (finally!) which will allow the best players to play at their best.
