@earl-of-trumps saidI didn't know you had such an affection for International Workers' Day!
Hey Lefties,
you do know that many escaped Cubanos in America send cash to relatives in Cuba, ,and STILL look at them.

I didn't know you had such an affection for International Workers' Day!
Are you kidding...? It's my anniversary 😍
@earl-of-trumps saidEmbarrassing: even in the 21st century, the USA is crapping its pants so badly at the mere chance that Cuban communism could be a success, they still put it under a mercantile barricade. How pathetic to be the largest economy in the world, and still so insecure about your political principles.

@shallow-blue saidThe "mercantile barricades" are there to facilitate the fulfillment of prophecy that "communism can't work." You know: just in case.

@Shallow-Blue
America holds a grudge against Cuba’s govt for two main reasons: they nearly hosted Soviet missiles, and they nationalized American-owned plantations.
@soothfast saidAnd for "facilitate", read: enforce at all costs.

The USA may win the commercial war, they're definitely throwing away any moral ground they ever had. (Not that that was a lot in the first place.)
@moonbus saidOh, no. It goes a lot deeper than that. And it starts a decade or so before that.

The USA holds a grudge against Cuba, basically, because Cuba refuses to be the USA's colony. Cuba didn't like Batista, the USA's mercantile parasite. Cuba refused to be plundered by USA companies, as Costa Rica and Honduras had been. No, Cuba would not be a Banana Republic!
And the USA considered this a slight against their commercial manhood. No, the USA has never forgiven Cuba for refusing to roll over and be plundered, and the USA never will. The Soviets are a mere side-show to the USA's tiny-penis energy.
@moonbus saidCastro asked for America's help at the onset of the uprising. Regrettably, we said no. The USSR took over from there.

@shallow-blue saidLOL what a freekin' LoOZa you are.

Is it just Cuba now?? How about North Korea, another people's paradise? When are you commies going to get it right?
Since the USSR, Est Germany etc, you sure had a lot of chances. Even if you got that ONE success now, it's way too late
@moonbus
It's weird we had the VietNam war and now relations with them in a good place, the Vietnamese don't hold grudges even though we decimated their country.
I guess it takes an actual war to get things back on track, eh.
@earl-of-trumps saidYou do know that North Korea isn’t communist, don’t you?

Sigh. Again. What is the definition of communism?
“Oh, Shav, it’s that the people who produce have control over production and an equal say in distribution.”
Yes. Correct. And in North Korea?
“Oh, Shav, it’s the exact opposite.”
Correct again. You really are surpassing yourself intellectually on this one.
One more question, for you: why do they call themselves communist then?
“Oh Shav, probably because it’s better PR than calling themselves a madhatter dictatorship.”
Damn Earl, you are as sharp as a trailerpark grits peeler* this morning.
* to be honest, I don’t know whar grits are, if they need peeled or if they actually go with possum or whatever else you eat out on the park.
@earl-of-trumps saidAh yes. So, they have less fuel and decide to use what they do have for important things like keeping the health system better than that of the US.

Despite decades of asocial embargoes on them.
@shavixmir - You do know that North Korea isn’t communist, don’t you?
And don't you just have the firmest grasp on the obvious!! Congrastulations.
