Seems pretty hush hush around the world. Had to search for this in CNN and BBC. Now that the US knows Korea has nukes, what is the next step ? Hope for the best ?

I bounce back and forth between Fox and CNN. Fox said that air sample tests would have been taken to confirm that it is not nuclear.
I was in Utah earlier this summer, and I saw a classic mushroom cloud to the north, up somewhere near the Wyoming border it appeared. Must have been a huge forest fire.

Just a couple of ranchers taking care of a grizzly bear problem.
Those smaller thermonuclear devices are just about right for that.
They also help keep the state's population down below half a million!! 😉

I'm no more concerned about this than I am
about the US having them. (building them, probably selling them, aso)
It's just another country trying to dominate others by force or the threat of force. Nothing new.. Just plain terrorism. (Define the word and see)
Terrorism. The tool of the strong. Forcing a behavior on people
by demonstrating the dreadful consequences of disobediance.
Note however that history never labels successful terror as terror at
all. Only the feeble attempts at using violence by the opposition are
called terrorism.
This to is nothing to get upset about really. Just the way of the world.
It would of course be great if we could change this, and the first step has to be:
Leave the other people alone.
If you want to help.
Send food. (For free)
Send medications. (For free)
Help build infrastructure. (For free)
Feel good about yourself, sure. But don't make demands
on the one you are trying to help. That's just another form of violence.
Blackmail.

N. Korea wants to send a message to other nations. "We have a nuclear weapons". I see no way the USA would NOT know if it was a nuke of a forest fire. That is a bunch of crud. A nuclear cloud would appear in a matter of seconds, a forest fire would take a substantial amount of time.
Either way, in the game of politics, we really can't expect to hear an honest answer from the US government can we ?
