Look, the truth of the matter is simple. Why are people protesting? The same reason why people protest about anything else.....IT JUST MAKES THEM FEEL GOOD.
Protesting isn't about thinking you will see a result and get your way. It isn't about thinking the people in charge will give you what you want. It's about you deluding yourself on purpose that you are somehow making a difference when you know deep down that at the end of the day all you are really doing is walking around outside holding a stick with a piece of paper stapled to it....
It's called Tokenism...and its spreading. We see this in social media sites where people post their condolences or best wishes to someone that dies even though that person will never actually read that post.
So, let them walk in their tight little circles while wearing their angry face and then after a few days of making themselves feel better all will be forgotten and the world can continue ensuring rich people get richer and poor people get poorer....

I've said all along on these pages that Democracy today for the average person means the freedom to complain about a situation but not having the power to influence the outcome.
In order to change government, you have to get inside it and change it from within. This means running for governor/senator/president etc. But even then, the system has been set up to ensure that any one individual cannot overrun the system. In fact, the system has been set up and perfected over time to ensure that precisely that doesn't happen.
Good luck sign wavers...but let's see how long this goes on for once the cold weather sets in.

In this case, you've got a bunch of people that want investment rules changed so that the profits made off some poor shmuck's labour who makes 10 bux an hour can be more safely distributed to a speculator that bought some stock on the advice of a stock broker that may or may not be in cahoots with the company.
It's about money. Hardly the rallying call for a revolution.
