500 times is a lot. He must have been deposed for hours.

The 5th protects accidentally admitting to committing a crime, which suggests he thinks a crime did take place. He thinks his testimony may be relevant in implicating himself in said crime.

Will be interesting to see if TFG also pleads the 5th. Another one of his quotes is "If you are innocent, do not remain silent."

But along with that protection from self-incrimination, the carrot of presumed guilt will motivate prosecutors to dig deeper, especially when he effectively slaps them in the face with these 500 5th deals.
And now they are not being shielded by their accounting firm the shyte will soon be hitting the proverbial fan.

You're saying someone might also purposefully admit to crimes, but that would be more of a confession, not as much aligned with self-incrimination.
