Despite all the bluster about building "great big plants that will hire millions of Americans" the U.S. job market has gone from healthy to ugly during President Donald Trump’s first seven months back in the White House, as hiring has collapsed and inflation has started to climb once again as the effects of his tariffs take hold.
Though Wall Street is doing well, Main Street is suffering as consumers are beginning to feel impact of these tariffs. Overseas markets continue to shrink for American businesses, and prices and job losses continue to rise, Trump and Co. are going to be very hard pressed to shift blame to the Democrats with both Congress and the Whitehouse under Republican control. Trumps economy is looking very much like a slow-motion train wreck.
We've gone through these many times before, as the parade of Republican administrations in the 1920's gave us the great depression, 12 years of Reagan - Bush in the 1980's and 90's saw unemployment rates over 10%, and let's not forget Bush 43 who brought us the great recession. Each time the Democrats stepped back in, fixed the economy, then were booted out of office by the GOP fearmongers who skillfully played the national "security card" to the voting public at just the right time.
Better vote for us, or the Communists will get you!
Better vote for us or the Terrorists will get you!
Better vote for us, or the Immigrants will get you!
Who knows. A decade or 2 from now they might be deporting single mothers -
It's sad that Americans have to keep relearning the same lesson again and again.
In the meantime, this slow-motion train wreck will play out before our eyes -

"Such a strong leader!"
Dumb, and getting dumber, since 2015.
When will they learn that the Emperor has no clothes? (Ewwww.)
@Mott-The-Hoople saidAgain you show you don't know what the word "lie" means.
I guess you libs missed the part about job numbers under biden was a lie didnt you?
This is the second year in a row that the BLS September adjustment showed job growth considerably slower than monthly reports indicated (though last year's got adjusted upward in January). That's bad news for the present administration considering the monthly reports have show anemic growth since Spring.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidI personally think Biden (or whoever is currently running the country) should leave the white house and let someone else have a shot at reversing the jobs numbers.

It's all you got left.
@mchill saidThere is no way the US steel industry is going to recover. Those old steel mills are as dead as dinosaur fossils.
