I get the feeling that a lot of people won't air their views on this as they ( wrongly )
just want to ignore that there is such a thing as disability, it makes them uncomfortable.
One of my old friends from years ago was disabled but played soccer to the best of his ability with his friends ( all able bodied ) and did just as well in most skills as everyone else.

I don't think there is a problem to mix The Olympic sports.

The Olympic games have been traditionally the top competition for amateur athletes of the world. If athletes with disabilities fit into that model, then why not? For example, I don't see why a shot putter or discus thrower could not be blind or deaf. Problems with the extremities might eliminate most if not all.

If the idea is to combine games to include specific competitions of handicapped folks such as wheelchair basketball, I think it better to keep the various handicapped competitions separate. Not to diminish their accomplishments, but to facilitate the logistics.

Running Olympic competitions is an organizational nightmare. Just a track and field competition takes nearly a week.
