I was reading how there is zero TV coverage of the para-olympics in the US.
Can anybody confirm if this is true?
If so, why aren't the US supportive of their para-olympians?
Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of athletics, but it struck me that there is no reason for the para-olympics to be a separate event to the olympics.
Of course, they couldn't compete in the same events, but the events could be incorporated into one event, and the medals would be added to one total.
This way, there would be more inclusion for the para-olympians (their events would be equal status to regular events), and more interest from the public.
As a further bonus, I believe Great Britain would improve their standing in the medals tables as a result of the success of their para-olympians 😉

The Olympic coverage is very biased here in the States. Unless you buy the full coverage on satellite, you are limited to the coverage on NBC. That coverage is pretty much limited to a slick pre-packaged evening telly show with just the highlights from the favorite American sports, especially if the USA wins that particular event. If you like equestrian, which I do, you are out of luck. If you like events at which other countries excel you are out of luck.

Originally posted by elvendreamgirlYeah, I love judo. Seemed like half of the flag bearers in the opening ceremonies were judoka, but no mention of it after that. Probably 'cause the US generally sucks at it. But seriously, judo is awesome to watch. People getting flipped through the air or choked or arm-barred. Very exciting stuff. Instead, the cult sport advertised on NBC this year? Bad-"friggen"-mitten. You tell me.
