@sonhouse saidIn 1996 the riots were a lot more visible than they are now. Rioters have gotten more subtle I guess. I could see the fires from many miles away back then.
So how many fires did they start? cars burned down? Cops killed?
You want to condemn ALL the protesters for the actions of a few violent ones,
You don't agree people should have the right to protest, that silly statement in the constitution about freedom of assembly means nothing to you, ESPECIALLY because the protesters are mainly democrats.
But there are also republicans with buyers remorse so don't forget that.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidSo was the guy that just murdered a prominent Democrat. And the guys who machine gunned the Irish on the St Valentine's Day Massacre.
They are uniformed and they identify themselves as law enforcement stop lying.
@AThousandYoung saidSo what do you want to do?

Make ALL arrests by cops in uniform illegal?
@Cliff-Mashburn saidFaces and badges with name and unit should always be visible. This never stopped law enforcement before. Why should it stop them now?

@AThousandYoung saidWhy are you acting like you don’t know why?

@Mott-The-Hoople saidI do know why. It's because this isn't a law enforcement problem supported by the populace. This is an illegal oppression campaign and you have to protect your people from facing justice for breaking the law.
Why are you acting like you don’t know why?
Law enforcement, the military and organized crime have existed for a very long time and law enforcement has consistently won in this country without needing to hide their identities.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidI hear the grief you display about the death of a sitting speaker of the house in Minnesota, Mellissa Hortman AND her husband and two others shot multiple times but of course, they were democrats and deserved execution.
So what do you want to do?
Make ALL arrests by cops in uniform illegal?
If they had been repubs you would have put out a hate filled post in capital letters EXECUTE the killers.
But now, NOTHING.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidFor one thing, after knocking on a door and declaring themselves, police should be required to allow a resident to call 911 to verify that they are for real before letting them in. As it stands, cops are as likely as not to kick the door down if it isn't opened for them within a few seconds.
So what do you want to do?
Make ALL arrests by cops in uniform illegal?
Also police often dress like slobs and paramilitary thugs these days. Compare them with the police in the old movies: snappy uniforms with a prominent badge over the heart, and a hat. Dress up! You're supposed to be professionals!
But allowing for a 911 call—and informing a resident that they have a right to make one before opening the door—is the best solution. It isn't hard.
