Question: does a former president enjoy perpetual immunity from prosecution for crimes committed while in office?

If anyone here thinks the answer is yes, then please explain why Ford thought it necessary to pardon Nixon.

He hasn’t been prosecuted. That does not mean he couldn’t be.
