I live near a clutch of schools Primary, Junior and Secondary schools all within 200 metres.

Recently a couple of teenage gangs have been acting anti-socially. Running over cars, spraying cars and grafiti-ing the walls of my house. Last weekend at four in the morning there was group of them sitting on the wall of my front garden, not commiting crime but keeping me awake.

How would you deal with this low level crime and aggrevation if it was on your doorstep?

to keep it legal you want to get a big ass dog (Rottweiler) one that snacks on whole cows and could eat it's way through a cattle farm for lunch, that should keep em away.

If they're graffiti-ing your house, I believe you can request the police both talk to them and their parents for property damage.

First, talk to the kids and your neighbors. Then, talk to the parents. Then videotape it and talk to the police. Getting a dog or two and a gun just in case might be a good idea.

How many kids are there usually? The best solution is to make sure your gang is bigger then their gang. Invite some of your pals over and when the kids get unruly, beat the ever living snot out of them. Or you could watch "The Sopranos" for ideas.

I would talk to them, but in a nice way, just ask them politely to keep the noise down. But if you don't feel confident in doing that, buy some ear plugs & plant some spikey bushes near the wall just where they sit, a firethorn, or holly bush, that should keep them off the wall & away from your house.

Walk calmly up to them, naked, and politely request that they leave.

Ok so one day a few weeks back 3 lads about 12 years of age were skipping class and playing knock down ginger next door at my elderly neighbours house. But instead ringing the bell and running off, one perpetually banged the gate, whilst one knocked on the door, the third one hid round the side of the house. When the old bloke eventually got to the door, the two boys at the front ran off laughing, whilst the guy at the side came up behind the old bloke and shouted BOOO very loudly before running off laughing.

At this point I went out and "had a word" that they had better things to me doing with their time, and how they like it if someone was hassling their grandparents like that. They said it wasn't us and slouched off.

Later on when I went out - they started verbally abusing me. So these days I just ignore them. But it appears that several people had their cars sprayed this weekend so the police have given us diaries to complete, to monitor the situation. Like a bunch of suburban diaries are going to drum some sense of purpose into these brats.

Policing by diary - that'll scare 'em.

The police should round 'em up and then get then to scrub the graffitti off walls. Make them apologise to the old folks next door and force them to go to school.

Say hi and ask how their day is going. Give them your name and ask theirs.

They act out for attention. Ignore them and you are just another face, lecture them and you are just another authority figure. If you spend a few minutes acknowledging their existence they will likely not bother you or your neighbors any more. Plus with a dialoged you can say some thing like: Hey guys, do you mind keeping it down after 8, there is a park just down the road we used to hang out at as kids. Or Johnny, I saw your dad at the market today, how's he doing. I know this seems like giving in a bit, but as an adult the first move will always be yours. Plus it lets them know you know where to find them later.

Cheers

That's all good ideally but where i come from you can't go round asking kids their names and telling yours you'd be branded a pervert.
plus most of their dads are in prison so they'd find it hard to believe you saw him on the market.
