...DNA/RNA production (among other things), and is part of most victuals.
Does that mean, it's good for viruses too? Is it possible, that by consuming
enough phosphorus, I may not only improve my energy intake, but also
improve the conditions for viruses?

😕

Er, wrong forum. I meant for this to be in science. 😕

Yes, good follow-up question there.

That substance X is used for something does not mean more is better.

That's an answer to a question no one asked.

Phosphorous will allow one to burn brightly at a very high temperature and possibly burn through floors and walls if they were to catch on fire, therefore it is not a wise element to consume. Let's hope the jihadists don't see this post because I'm afraid they will resort to eating phosphorous flakes for breakfast...preparing to be flaming-'mimis' at the next suicide bombimg against the infidels; however, one could donate one's body to the fertilizer industry...

But, but, but it's part of almost every food source. And it's required by living
cells, as it's an integral component of DNA and RNA, is it not?

Oh, my GOD! I'm gon'die!!! Burn through the floor no less! 🙄

-only in the sense that viruses need it -yes. -or to be more precise, they need their host cell to have it.

Basically no. It is unlikely to either improve your energy intake or improve the conditions for viruses if you consume significantly more phosphorus than what is required to prevent deficiency disease. If you haven’t got deficiency disease then there should be already more than enough phosphorus for both for you and viruses so increasing it would not really help viruses. That generally goes for virtually all nutrients and vitamins ( with the possible exception of folic acid if I am to believe the research ). That is basically sort of the point KazetNagorra was making when he said:
“That substance X is used for something does not mean more is better.”
