The Russian trolls who were arrested for election interference used to do exactly this.

They would wake up and write a dozen complete BS stories about Hillary and Bill Gates or whatever, blast it all over the Internet and the next thing you know it's on grammas Facebook feed and the topic of conversation on Easter Sunday.
