I heard of this real violent Internet game which you can play online.
The one and only objective is to destroy your enemy.
Their are figures you own, sometimes the game even force you to sacrifice (!) those.
Its all about a lousy king which you should try to protect. He can´t do any good but his wife is very powerful.
During the game you will crush the figures of your enemy until finally you will kill his king.
Their is a really biiig community around this game and a.m. you can even play it online against other killers.
I do not know exactly but I think its calles chuss or chess.
ALL CRAP MAN !

not chess. You know, the shoot em up kind.
The thing with the chess was a joke as the news always are overreacting to the games.
To be honest I think many parents made faults. Nobody can harm a videogame seller when mommy and daddy are buying their 12 years old son the new ultrabrutalityextremlyheadshotfriendlyshootemup game just to stop their son always running on their nerves for this dam. game.
But I think there is enough reason to allow those games only at a certain age at. At a specific age which always differ as the individuals differ one understand that there is something hindering you to hurt surounding humans (e.g. to stop hiting somebody when he goes down and not to kick him in the face or the groin)
Before that age i think these games would affect and lower the inhibition level of the kids.
PS: I also play CS, GTA, MANHUNT etc etc etc. But im 25 and I think the kids should not be allowed to play until 18 (full age in Germany)

BUt this rating system is overruled by the parents.
A mum or dad which buy the videogame which is rated 17+ (same here but only stricter - Germany) for their 12 years old young pup is to much to bear for me.
I dont think that the greates part of the mistakes is done by the retailers i think its the parents.
My parents used to strictly watch the movies i watched. I have secretly watched Indiana Jones which was rated 16+ at the age of 15 and had a monster of a bad conscience.
I used to watch the movie The boat with my father at the age of 14. He watched it and discussed with me the monstrosity of war.
As I saw the German submarine torpedoing a destroyer and then the troopers of the boat swimming from the sinking boat towards the sub and crying help help and the captain ordered to slowly "drive" back i cried. Today everbody would think im a sissy or a loser. But in these days this really hit me.
Therefore I think the greates part and responsibility is in the hands of the parents.

This is bullsh*t. Howmany kids do you know that would actually shoot somebody because they saw it in a video game? I play these games all the time, but I semm to be just enough in control of myself to not shoot people when I'm in public.
parts of the brain controlling emotional response, and not just
guessing but actually able to see the parts of the brain come on
line or go silent during the course of a violent game.
It seems the part of the brain governing emotional responses such
as compassion goes bye bye during a game, the same kind of thing
that happens when a thug commits an actual crime, murder, theft,
rape, whatever. The emotional part of the brain gets inhibited so
you have no little voice of conscience telling you what you are about
to do is wrong which happens to normals when they contemplate a
crime. They are not saying you play violent games and you go out
and shoot someone, they are saying the groundwork has been laid
in the brain so that if a person gets into a potentially violent situation
the one just finishing a violent video game is the one statistically
more likely to actually become violent. Thats all they are saying.
That is not the same thing as saying you play Grand Theft Auto and
then go out and kill your sister.
