First there were toxic drugs, then toxic toothpaste, then toxic pet food and now toxic toys. When are we going to crack down on China for selling dangerous consumer goods?

I was reading it this morning. We need to cut China off. They are not buying American goods anyway, it's a one way deal and on top of it they are trying to kill us. I say cut off all trade with China and many other nations and lets get back to MADE IN AMERICA!!!!!

I've got news for you -- it ain't just Wal-Mart that sells stuff "Made in China." I recently bought a whole set of dishes from Dillard's and a bed from Macey's, which had "Made in China" stamped on them. Nearly everything these days is made there, but that's not the issue. Corruption in China and the fact that there are so many "little" vendors running around with no oversight is the issue. How do we solve this problem? I don't know. Maybe in the short run, your suggestion might help; unfortunately, it harms consumers by limiting their choices and hitting them in the pocket book. I think over the long term, China will be forced to tackle this problem, otherwise, their economic engine stalls and the country's phenomenal growth stops.

Lead paint! What were they thinking, for Christ's sake? They have some serious quality control issues down there.

Not everything is made in china. All you have to do is flip the damn thing over and see where the label is from. There are lots of websites you can check out to see where products are made. It just takes effort and a willingness to pay more.

But that's the real issue....rather than pay more money to be assured safety, we buy the cheapest priced item and then are shocked, shocked! to find it was made from bad materials.

You speak of consumer choice? Hmm, the poisonous cheap toy or the safe expensive toy...some choice.
