Only if the students are black. Maybe trans or gay too. Any mistake no matter how minor is cause for termination nowadays if the students are some sort of protected species..

I would love to be a professor and tell a student 'Q'd....' whatever, that I cannot pronounce your name, can you give me another name to use. Maybe their middle name, hopefully John or Jim. How bout 'Brother'. My dad called all of us brother.

It seems like there's more to the story. It seems like someone complained about the name mix-up and in response, he wrote some sort of a rambling bizarre explanation to the entire class and the department head took one look at it and said "this guy's nuts."

At least that's what I'm gleaning reading between the lines.

That this guy was apparently a paradigm of wokeness who felt incredibly frustrated that cancel culture (which he, no doubt, approved of) was coming for him, makes it all the sweeter.

Just speculation, but his rambling email to the whole class was probably something along the lines of "look at all my black friends! And they're soooo smart too."

The monster is eating its own bowels.
