This is a genuine loonie who wants to kill everyone at their highschool 5 years after they left.
This person has never committed any crime in their entire life - not even a parking fine.
What should they have to do to show that it is a good idea for them to have a gun?
And if they get a gun, then how powerful and fast should that gun be?

Often in life we come across difficult questions indeed. This one is a beauty, cause discussing topics like this helps us deal with these situations when we come across them in life. It isn't an, 'easy' one... but I think if doesn't have a bad effect on your own life or your friends then it'd be alright.
You obviously have some insight into the situation, ...[text shortened]... psycho under the impression he needs a bigger gun... like the one you have waiting for him.
i suspect you youself do not want this - but i can imagine that this is the reality faced by the psycho.

I was congratulating scottish on seeing reason, you appear to have quite some way to go.
Because I believe peaceful people should be able to own guns does not mean I want to see peaceful people shot. When it is said "peaceful people" this does not mean lunatics.

i think they should have to prove that it is a necessary part of their life.
just for fun and sport, or defense against a hypothetical burglar is not good enough to me - we can use our hands and feet and kitchen knives and just run.
it must be for purposes like farming or policing etc.
and then it should almost always be a single shot weapon - unless they can prove some extra special requirement of automatic fire.
There is a man. He is an honorable and just man. The police are incompetent and children are being stalked by a rapist and murderer who is much bigger and stronger than the man.
Does this change the answer? It shouldn't; both the loonie and this guy should have the same law applied to them since the law does not know which is which.
