in reading through the white suprimest i was reminded of a question that comes up a lot in NFL talk these days. McNabb is the quarterback of my team, the eagles. a lot of the calls coming in to radio stations and even some high up people stirred controversy in putting down black quarterbacks. so the debate i am going to raise is:

Are white quarterbacks superior to black quarterbacks?

How many black quarterbacks have won a super bowl? 1

Who would you rather have leading your team, Brady or McNabb? Manning or Vick? Leinart or Young?

I think this question brings up athletic and mental issues, being that you must be intelligent to QB in the NFL.

I am just raising the question, I am not a supremist or a racist. just want to hear your opinion.

I'm sure the answer lies beyond race. I just can't tell, not having the best insight into the culture of american football.

It all depends on the type of offense employed. A case can be made for either race, as seen in Doug Flutie as a white scrambler, or, Doug Williams, a black passer.

In my opinion, the best five quaterbacks in the last 25 years are:
Joe Montana
Warren Moon
Steve Young
Dan Marino
John Elway
I rate them as best, in that they elevated their teams from the standpoints of leadership and achievement. Each possessed some similar traits, as well as distinguished themselves from the others for their unique abilities.
Had Warren Moon played his entire career in the NFL, it is doubtful any of the other four would have been able to compare.
If he can translate his game in the NFL, Vince Young will be giving all five a run for their money.
For what it's worth.

For a number of years it was thought that blacks weren't smart enough to play quarterback. They were wrong. Then it was believed that black qb's couldn't be dropback, pocket passers. Warren Moon proved them wrong. Currently there are at least five black qb's starting in the NFL and Vince Young in a year or two will make it six. The black qb is here to say, my question is why aren't there more black punters? Reggie Roby is the only one that comes to mind.

Anyhoo...

Yes as paying fans. Seahawks had the easiest schedule in the NFL. Couldn't even beat the Packers.

Couldn't or didn't want to beat them?
How 'bout them Colts?

I think the Colt's will win it all. Prior to the son of Coach Dunghy dying they were firing on all cylinders. I think they will regain that form for the playoffs. Hell they have the best QB in the NFL.

Just out of curiosity, do you equate the smarts of a top captain
or coach or owner or QB with the kind of intelligence displayed by
a Kasparov or Fischer? Just talking smarts not whether they are nuts
or not.

the colts didn't play anyone in that game. it was like the Seahawks starters vs. a D III college team.

And I agree with Darv that Brady is the best QB. but Manning is the smartest. I think Vick sux, they should start Shaub over him. and i hope McNabb comes back to his true form

I'll tell you what, the Seahawks did have an easy schedule, but they are playing very good football. Even if the Colts didn't play anyone in those losses, you never want to go into the playoffs playing bad football. The team to watch is the (much hated by me) NE Patriots. You can't much argue with a qb that has never lost a game in the playoffs.
