The whole radical climate activism...at the heart of it is socialism. I know many like the idea of socialism, but AvJoe sees central planning, regulatory planning, no free choice, no free market. Isn't this big government socialism?
The academic class has a found a device to give them power over everyone. Their goal is to control our lives, excuses to create hysteria, making us think there is no choice. It is a goal to control society, and force the rest of us to do what they want on their terms. To basically reduce us from being citizens to being subjects. Sonhouse...This Is Not Democracy.
Life Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness is no longer our foremost credo, but rather our working for the govt instead of the govt working for us.
It is against free market capitalism . You have freedom, You have private property. Private property is the bulwark of freedom....that is not what they want. They want you to be subordinated to them, just look at the damage done to children in our schools. The control. The control!!
Govt runs the schools, the curriculum, gender stuff, sex stuff, CRT, this is control. At the Budget Committee, there will be discussions on the Dems attempts to increase mental illness in the US, failure to deal with drug threats, border, fentanyl....and now they want to take over all preschool learning. Next they will wear brown shirts??
Progressive policies are failing Americans. I am a Lincoln Republican. You fellers cannot say that.

Realize the earth has been fluctuating temperature since the beginning of the earth?

That's a start 🙄

Realize that even if all of North America went green it wouldn't matter.

China, Pakistan, India and South East Asia pollute so much it wouldn't matter.

Start their Mr. Science guy.
The two posts are contradictory.
1. There is no human created global warming (obviously wrong as has been pointed out on these forums umpteen times). *
2. The US alone can’t turn the tide (ie, there is something humans can do about it).

* The Earth has heated 1.8° since the start of the industrial revolution. Before then there was no industry, no cars, much more forest and 7 billion less people… only a fool would ever claim that this doesn’t influence the climate.

to global warming?
That's a great question that really deserves it's own thread. I don't have time right now, so I'll keep it short:

Global warming is absolutely a concern. But if it were really as dire an emergency and some make it out to be, those same people would be amenable to considering global engineering solutions, like carbon sequestration and global dimming using aerosols.

The problem is that nobody is really into these potential solutions. Those who are less concerned aren't worried about GW and those who scream doom are really after forcing the rich to decrease consumption of resources.

Personally, I'm very much in favor of investing in studying potential temporary measures to buy us time and then huge investments in energies like solar, wind and nuclear.

What I am absolutely convinced of is that "solutions" centered around forcing people to use less energy in general are completely useless and will never work. Producing energy in a way that doesn't contribute to GW is clearly the only long term solution. But short term measures to artificially slow GW must be studied if people are truly serious about GW being an imminent threat.

The people screaming for forcing people to consume less are disingenuous about their threat assessment and not serious about a solution, IMO.

so you deny that global temps are cyclic?

Cyclic global tempts don't change this dramatically this quickly. Cyclic climate change happens over centuries or millennia, not within 100 years, outside of an asteroid hitting earth.

No, but it's unlikely that human activities are not altering the natural cycle.

Yes, but the changes were gradual
and nature was able to adapt.
The last decade is the WARMEST IN RECORDED HISTORY.
Even a weasel has an opinion and of course
you're allowed one too, even an opinion

As usual, no solutions....no ideas, except to,
criticize and obstruct the people & plans that are put forward.
THE USUAL GOP AGENDA
Deny global warming, and leave a poorer quality life for
the future generations that THE GOP
professes to be so concerned about.......Oh, the irony.
