You know, a President once said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Now it seems like we're supposed to be afraid...it's patriotic in fact, color coded...What we supposed to be afraid of? Why of being afraid...That's what terror means, doesn't it? That's what it used to mean.

Being off topic for a second, your post now shows your location as The City of Our Lady.

Since you have told us before your in Los Angeles, I was just wondering. You know of course that Los Angeles was founded in 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula (The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of Porziuncola).

So, I was wondering if you were getting religious on us (smiles)

Absolutely. I would say that the successful manipulation of fear is the hallmark of any great administration. In exposing fear for the fraud it is FDR also identified the most important tool in the statecraft bag of tricks. Its not the only one, but like sex it can pretty much sell anything.

Small mistake - it was Gaspar de Portolà, not Felipe de Neve that came up with the name.

Nah, I just love the name. I respect the Catholic influences on the history of this city. Besides, there's something cool, kinda pagan, about the Catholic thing for saints. I find prayers and invocations to saints and angels and stuff fascinating. I'd find Satanic stuff fascinating too. I enjoy reading about the magical stuff Jesus, Moses etc. supposedly did. I like Norse mythology too, and I'd love to find out anything there is to be found about the native religion and mythology, that of the Tongva people.

Mary was an actual historic person anyway. She has a major world metropolis named for her, glorifying her as Queen of the local angels. This is cool.

And what is this idea that there are angels local to this area? Los angeles de Porciúncula? Who are these local angels? It's all cool stuff.

Of course Mary's dead, Jesus is dead, and there are no angels. But it's still cool to read about. When I was a kid I liked reading about the Greek gods too...

Well, I don't know about you, but how many moslim terrorists do you actually know?

I know a lot of moslims, and not one of them is a terrorist. Quite a few drink whiskey though.

Most aquaintances and neighbours of the UK suicide bombers apparently thought they were just harmeless muslims too.
