Reality is all about perspective. If you brought up a child telling him the numbers ended at 10, not even giving him the idea of numbers then he wouldnt know any better without outside simulation or the inward ability to question what is after 10. I think the questioning can only come after interation with other people.

Take a baby, leave it ...[text shortened]... a pink sun. That would be its reality. Your reality is defined by what you have learned.

Yea. But why would there be a pink sun?

Doesn't the universe present a decent face to all?

If the person controling the sun wanted it to be pink it would. Where the person controling the sun is in turn being control is another thing all together. Its gettting out of perspective. For the most part reality is only importaint to yourself. The child who grew up in the controled room with the pink sun could be told the sun is infact a grape fruit and given maths and proof to prove it. By our standards the maths would be wrong, by his they would be totally correct. That is the nature of reality.

Our idea of light and the sun could just be as mad and grape fruits in the sky.

"Solipsism" is not a good answer.

Well. This has been a totally wasted thread.

The answer to the big mystery must remain a mystery. I guess.

I'm going to bed. Sigh.

Prove me wrong :-)

How is your reality more real then the pink sun child?

Or was your question about reality not on this aspect of it?

Good post. At last. Even though I had to come back for a parting shot to notice it.

My reality is not really real. It is an illusion. Just like yours.

perception is reality... to the one who perceives it.

Then consider.

When the most Royal Chicken was but an egg.

I did tell him that "unless you are serious about leaving don't cry about it. The world will make us 'trivial' soon enough. It doesn't need our help."

he left. The US to England.

Why?

snark.... I am relying on a "few good men" to rescue this thread. Come on RC. Help me out here. What is "Reality"?

We must "trust" the five senses that we possess?

I agree. So.

What about the things that just "wig us out"?

errr... let me guess.

Nothing "weird" has ever happened to you?

We can wallow in rhetoric and achieve nothing. For me, there is no benefit to be gained (perhaps I simply lack the aptitude for your conversation). I will take my leave, and I am not weeping.

That's cool.

Can't stand people who cry for no reason.

Some important human ailments still resist modern science and one of them is self-pity.

Merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

A Einstein.
