Report Card on Red State America

Debates

1 edit

Conservatives: How's that agenda of yours working out? The report card is out, and it seems the red states' pro-gun, low taxes, anti-environmental, labor hating, redneck policies aren't fairing too well at all.

From an economic and social development standpoint, these widening cleavages have long been evident. People in blue-state America live longer than their red-state counterparts. They are less likely to live in poverty, more likely to have access to health care, less likely to die from gun violence, more likely to be members of a union and more likely to be vaccinated against Covid-19. In red-state America, family income is lower, and so, too, is economic productivity.

One is vibrant, diverse and growing. The other is stagnant, struggling and moribund — and it is about to get worse for women now that they no longer have full control over when to have children. These divisions are also happening within states: Blue metro areas that are the engines of economic growth for their states are increasingly at odds with the poorer, more culturally conservative red counties that surround them.

As a Lutheran, our communion service is similar to the Catholic service (though not identical) To answer your question though, it's about once every 2 weeks.

- does this still make me a serpent?

@mchill

So, tell us why droves of people move out of California, New York, and go to states like Texas and Florida?

HINT: high taxes, high crime

No. Help is offered. And the extreme right shoot it down or get the SCROTUS to overturn democracy for them.

And the red states keep voting for a political party that just makes matters worse.
It’s like turkeys voting for Christmas.

I think its an overall cost of living thing. We briefly considered a move but CA home prices are 3 times the price.

Because California is so awesome that rich people keep coming here and driving up the price of housing so regular people get priced out and have to either be homeless or leave

Right; which makes income comparisons between California and say, Kansas, pretty silly, wouldn't you say?
