This has been in the air a long time.
I figure half the people who voted for Trump are very religious.
It is said that 5 of the SCOTUS judges are devoutly religious.
You listen to any religious channel and some of the televised sermons will have a pastor saying things like "God has plans for America" or "we will take back our country".
I was hearing this stuff 15 years ago.
Immigration, economy, Capitalism are very important issues. But underneath that is the most important driver for the conservatives, what will the makeup of American Society be going forward ?
Any mention of anything religious in this forum, they usually run away from or give a "here we go with religion again".
This biggest issue, to them, is usually kept in their back pocket while they rail away on the issues that are pressing every day life for most people.

Look at what conservative state governments have been focused on lately.
Economy ? No.
Immigration ? No
Inflation ? No

Abortion bans ? Yes.
Planning same sex marriage bans ? Probably.

Biden has had a bad term.
But I'll be clear here. GOP has to own this as well.
Mitch McConnell laid out the GOP at the very start. Opposition to everything !!
i.e. - we will not govern.

But hey. God has plans for America.
