Though their dislike for Hollywood is well known, Republicans seem to enjoy electing actors to public office. B - movie actor Ronald Reagan, reality TV host Donald Trump, and actor / singer Sonny Bono come to mind. Though Reagan was once Governor of California, neither Reagan, Trump or Bono showed much interest in actually governing, choosing instead to make speeches and getting their photos in the newspapers and on the internet. Could it happen again? Could Howard Stern, Kim Kardashian, Queen Latifah, Steven Seagal, Martha Stewart, or Tyra Banks run on the Republican ticket and get elected as a governor or president? I'd say the odds are better than 50/50. Thoughts?

Sure. The Republican voters have to be the dumbest on the planet.

My friends who are or were serious actors would take
exception to Donald Trump being described as a
fellow member of their profession.

I'm sure they would take exception, but the reality is Trump was the host on a highly rated TV show for several years, and I doubt a lot of your actor friends were. Being a member of the SAG is not always a requirement.

"...showed much interest in actually governing,"

Excellent, pay them to do nothing and we'd all be much better off, any polly that wants to get in there and start yanking on the levers and twiddling dials should be disqualified, that's when your wallet is in danger.

D apparently fails to comprehend that 'Reality Television' is an oxymoron and indicates scripted, planned and ,yes, acted scenarios. D is apparently so gullible as to believe reality tv is somehow synonymous with reality, such is the world of fantasy that D inhabits.

D logic 🙄
