Lets face it, the Federal Reserve System is very unpopular these days. Ron Paul has always been a critic of the FRS and now everybody seems to being using Ben as a pinata these days.

Is Bernanke being used as a scapegoat?
When Bernanke is gone will anything change to a meaningful extent?

Is it? Do you have any polling data to suggest that the FRS is "very unpopular"?

I think this implies the FRS is unpopular since the majority of Americans don't trust the FRS without an audit.

Here's one that says a plurality want it to be more "accountable" to Congress though support for its abolition is at only 8%. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-09/more-than-half-of-americans-want-fed-reined-in-or-abolished.html

I don't have a poll to quote, but I am guessing that a plurality don't have any idea what the fed does or why they do it. People are getting tired of not understanding things that have a huge effect on their lives. Even trained economists don't agree about the things the fed does.

I guess private entities need to be regulated and transparent.....except the Fed!!

Now if the Fed can just take over all private industry the left will shut up about further regulating the world at large and just leave us alone.

1. Yes- Bernenke is being used as a scapegoat, though he has few tools left to actually help our economy.

2. No- The Fed can do only so much to help this economy, so his successor will be able to do little more.

So is Bernanke a scapegoat for Greenspan? Is Greenspan the primary cause of the mess Bernanke has to deal with?
