Well it's too bad for the country, now it will be 4 MORE years of Moscow Mitch being the 'grim reaper' as he calls himself.
Georgia re-elects a crook and a billionaire.
Great going. MM is dancing in the street.
Well, as much as a sagging snowman can dance.
Also kiss goodbye to any more 'help' from the government, no 2000 dollar check to needy folks.
Just like republicans LOVE. Screw the common folk, cheat and lie and voter suppression to win.
This is probably the final straw of the US as a world power.
I suggest we all learn Mandarin.
@Duchess64
The republican lead is too great. One of them already has 84% counted. Don't think there is enough even if the rest of the votes are 100% democrat.
Which wouldn't happen since Georgia is basically a red state.
Well we tried.
@sonhouse saidThe jig isn't up yet. It still may be, but all the votes are not yet in. Let's wait for all the votes (which won't be tonight, but damned near) before we go crying in our beer. Right now, CNN says they are waiting on a sizable dump of votes (170,000+), so we'll see where they are after that.

@sonhouse saidthe statistical wonks still think Ossoff and Warnock will win as of 11:24 ET

@Suzianne
Yes there is a sizable dump but it would have to be 100% dem to win.
It is more likely even split or even if it is 60% dem it would not be enough.
Lets face it. USA is screwed AGAIN. Biden may talk about working with MM but that won't happen friends or no. MM was doing his obstructionist bit for a LONG time, and is too old to have any kind of change of heart.
@sonhouse saidI'm happy to say you've got it wrong: both Democratic candidates are now seen as almost certain to win. You have to break the data down by county to see why this is. In fact both candidates are performing better than Biden did in November in Georgia.

@sonhouse
Not so fast.
Warnock has taken the lead. And is outside the .5% range for a recount.
Ossoff is in a dead heat with his opponent with at least 20,000 votes to be counted in Democrat rich Atlanta area.
Both Dems looking good to win. Though Ossoff may have to go to a recount.
Possibly expect more data around 2am ET
@soothfast saidIn fact Nate Silver projects that Warnock will win by 1.9 points and Ossoff by 1.1 points, both figures comfortably north of the 0.5-point threshold below which the loser can request a recount on the taxpayers' dime. McConnell is going down. May he rot in hell.

@soothfast saidOh, that would be such a great start to 2021!

@sonhouse saidNope. Warnock is now ahead and Ossoff is only about 1,000 votes behind. The remaining votes will come mostly from the suburbs of Atlanta and Savannah, they expect them to run 60%-ish Democrat. Warnock gave a speech that sounded like a victory speech.

So far, so good. Cheer up, the fat lady is warming up.
@soothfast saidThis is similar to what I'm hearing.

Still not celebrating yet.
