Originally posted by MacSwainThere's no guarantee that the PSNI didn't enforce the law, remember that their FIRST port of call was the UDA, and only then (apparently) the police. If this is like any of the other bull that happens, I'd put money on that tarred and feathered guy having it done to him by the UDA, not because he dealt drugs and they saw it as a morally repugnant thing, but because he dealt drugs and they saw it as competition.

Calling these groups loyalist or republican is a luxury they don't deserve. They're just competing criminal gangs, with no political motives behind their acts of violence and crime any more. This wasn't vigilante justice, it was a gang protecting its territory I'd say.
Edit: Consequently, this won't change the drugs sold on the block, it'll just make sure it's UDA goons doing it rather than that poor sod.
And what do you mean by "police response to complaints improve in future"? Getting a drug dealer off the street takes more than a phone call, you need evidence, which takes longer than the few days they were probably given. Rule of Law is all that can bring real justice, which is more important than vigilante justice.
