Is it a logical assumption that American right wingers are more likely to welch on their bets? Does the worship of self-interest explicit in this philosophy make them believe that a failure to abide by personal obligations is morally justified?

I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. "...failure to abide by personal obligations is morally justified" is, well, over the top.

Only an idiot such as yourself would try to make generalities based on a statement made to a comedian.

It's OK, democrats don't seem to like to pay taxes like Timmy Giethner. In the end, they both even each other out. 😛

Do you mean "democrats don't seem to like to pay taxes like Timmy Giethner" or do you mean "democrats like Timmy Giethner don't seem to like to pay taxes"? I am wondering just how much you are attempting to extrapolate from the behaviour of the public figure you've singled out, and how many millions of people you seek to apply it to. Do you have any evidence that democrat tax payers are any more likely than republican taxpayers to avoid paying their taxes?

I seriously doubt that anyone likes to pay taxes.
