Has Rupert Murdoch got too much power?
After all he owns about 170 papers, all of which support his opinions.
BSkyB is a huge Media company and he gets courted by politicians the world over.

On the other hand, don't most people realise that any news source will be at least slightly biased one way or the other, and take this into account?

For some reason "Rupert Murdoch" sounds like the media equivalent of "Mornington Crescent".

The Murdoch situation is just one example of a much larger problem of Corporate America having way too much influence over our politicians and subsequently our laws and policies in this country (US). That's a huge problem that I don't think I could even put into words. Plus I'll get so ticked off in the middle of trying to write it that I'd just end up ranting.

Anyway, Murdoch, yes. WAY too much control over way too much of our media. But there's not a politician in our country with enough backbone to do anything about it.

We can always hope he 'falls' off his yacht.

It's happened before...

Rupert Murdoch is also fond of a bit of nepotism too. Even where he doesn't have control his family does.

20 years ago he was skint. He needed to arrange Maxwell's yachting trip to stay float himself.

However, I believe John Malone, the billionaire head of Liberty Media is about to takeover News corp. Murdoch will be less powerful soon. I understand that there are many shareholders unhappy with Murdoch and he will be put on a year rolling contract after the takeover.
