Look it up. You'll be amazed but the US government doesn't control all time zones. There are actually other countries that use the same time zones.

States like Arizona can and do opt out of daylight savings time.

That is true. You don't need it over here. When I lived in Minnesota it probably was needed. Can't have the kids walking to school in the dark.

Actually, I think there is a plan in place to extend the day another 3 hours to a 27 hour day. This will help increase working hours thus increasing tax revenue for the federal government. 😛
