Can't you sum her up in a few sentences?

That could also be a subliminal PM add.
Shav: "She's never uttered anything sensible and her whole theory is based upon the rationality of mankind."
correction: the ability of man to be rational. It's not automatic.
Shav: God damn you people are stoopid.
This typifies the left whingers opinion of his fellow man, from this follows their philosophy of control and regulation, unfortunately the flaw being the controllers and regulators need to be their fellow men.
Is this you playing with matches and a cam Shav?

kmax: "That anyone still takes her work seriously?"
Given that the first post consists mainly of a quote stating her growing popularity I don't see that as being the debate. Some see her ideas as controversial and almost any mention of Rand here at RHP sparks something, I could have put money on Shav being the first non-comment.
kmax: "Light the cigarette, watch it burn and find a world of introspection, calmness, power and certainty overwhelm your every fibre of being."
Maybe you're getting confused with bhuddism, calmness suggests a lack of emotion, and emotion is not denied in her work, it is neccessary. But you're onto it with the recognition of reality and the confidence that comes from building a rational consistent philosopy from the groung up.
ATY: "The only thing the State should do is protect people from violence."
This is the libertarian tenant ATY, and there is some conflict between objectivists and libertarians. Libertarianism (the non-initiation of force principle) might be seen as the 'what' and objectivism the 'why'. Objectivists sometimes accuse libertarians of trying to take a short cut to freedom that may actually do more harm than good, you can't have the 'what' without the 'why'.
For spruce a very short summation in her own words:
"My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
