Should one vote party or conscience if there is a conflict with an issue?

One issue isn't enough to vote for or against someone unless it's a biggie and more important than absolutely everything else. For a compelling reason I would vote for someone of an opposing party, but not just on one issue unless it's something huge like invading other countries.

What about an issue your party endorsed and was pushing hard for but you were not convinced? All your buddies were debating with you about this issue as well. Would you cave in?

Always vote your conscience. An election isn't a horse race. The purpose is not to pick the winner. The purpose is to make society better. Always vote for the candidate that you truly feel will improve society. If you vote otherwise then you betray yourself, and perhaps even betray the trust that is the foundation of a free society.

In american politics I think:

In the Senate, politicians should vote depending on their conscience. In the house, politicians should vote based on popular opinion in their area(because we elected them to represent us.).
