It's everywhere!
Sports heroes on drugs, amphetimines, uppers, downers, muscle-toners, secret ingredients...you name it, seemingly...they're on it!
I was reading an article in one of the Dutch newspapers about Holland's top chess player (or one of them...can't be sure) who stepped out of the chess league because he disagreed with being tested for marijuana before chess tournaments.
Let me repeat that...
In major chess tournaments players are tested for all sorts of drugs...including marijuana. So, I suppose athletes are tested for marijuana as well. Why?
I've never seen anyone who was stoned accomplish anything sporty?!?
Two Greek athletes had a car accident to get out from taking a drugs test (or so it would seem. and yes, I am speculating here...but who isnt'?).
US sportsmen are seemingly doping themselves all over the place.
Why are these sporties taking drugs? What sort of pressure are they under to take this crap, which can ruin their carreers, just to win?
and what if everyone was to take these performance related drugs? Will everyone become proportionally better?
I suggest all these sports personalities should be allowed to take whatever they want.
Hell, get their drugs companies to sponsor them!
And here's Timothy Sprinter sponsored by Maroccan blonde!
Look at Peter run! Yes kids, this is what steroids do for you. Yes. He does have a smaller penis, but look at him run!
I say let these sporto's take whatever they want and come out openly and say so! Then eventually we can pop the bubble that sports people should be worshipped.
you can empathise with the pressure sporties are under. They are alwy reaching for the next level, they sacrafice their lives to it, and then they realise that they are never going to get there - unless they take a little stimulant, nothing major a bit like having a coffee, that will allow them to train that little harder, recover just that little faster.

I think a lot of the pressure comes from the fact that when they realsie that they might not make it they feel like they've wasted their lives. What would you do to regain the sole purpose to your existance?
Personally I can't understand why someone would dedicate themselves to being able to run faster than the next man. Even if you, by some minor miracle, manage to become world no. 1 for a year or 2, after that what have you achieved? "err, I could pass 200 meters 0.027 seconds faster than the next man in 1997". Hardly a reason ot have existed in my book.
You can't seriously allow althletes to take 'whatever they want'. Then sprots would be about who was willing to take the most drugs, to sacrafice not only their lives but their health and the length of their lives to get there. Then again it could be said that some sports (eg. gymnastics) already do this without drugs.
As for being tested for maruana, do you know for certain that a joint doesn't help you train harder, to block out the pain and run the extra mile? That's no more a silly prospect than it being a pain releaf drug for MS, but it is. All drugs could potentially be performance enhancing.
I think much of the problem lies with money. Sportsmen are not taking drugs "just" to win. A top athlete can make a huge amount from sponsorship deals and appearance fees - enough to last a lifetime after a short career at the top.
The drug problem seems to have ballooned since the IOC abandoned it's rules on amateur participation. Not that there were no cheats before this, some people will take drugs just for national or international prestige even at the expense of their own pride but it is certainly worse now that money is involved.
I'm surprised to learn that chess players are tested! Are there drugs available that can give a chess player an advantage over his opponent? I would think the opposite was true. 😲
