So far I think that KM seems to favor taxing the middle class if they make over 50K. But then, KM is so in love with taxes he probably thinks that their standard of living goes up proportionally to their tax rate increasing. 😛

Taxes wouldn't be a problem if we got our ridiculous military spending in line.

1. We have to stop being the world's police we have no business having troops anywhere but in America.
2. After we close all our bases overseas we can drastically reduce the size of our military.
3. Our military is hideously overpaid. We need to freeze their pay increas ...[text shortened]... ey, their pay and benefits equal over 30,000 dollars a year on the outside. That's TOO MUCH.
I'm with Sam on this.

I think we all should accept that the massive tax reductions done over the last 30 years are unsustainable unless there are draconian cuts in spending. If tax rates for the middle class have to be modestly increased, so be it.

You chose to live in a society without 'modestly increased taxes'.

Deal with it.

(Shrug) It's my suggestion; it's up to the majority and their representatives whether they want to accept that taxes need to be modestly raised to balance the governmental books.

Ha! You chose to live in a society that wants government run healthcare. Deal with it.

Or rather, one that wanted it last year, but might not this year.

Ah, the fickle winds of change...

That was my point, I don't use that type of argument but was just handing back something D had just tried on me, it's pointless, childish and redundant but sometimes the best way is to dish it back so that he gets a taste of his own medicine.

Try telling that to voters.
Plenty of people in plenty of places have been successful in making this case to voters, why would Americans be an exception?

Because of "American exceptionalism"?

I'd probably be drowned out by the chorus of whodeys telling the middle class that they're going to lose every penny they ever earned.

Which apparently had been on hold during 1930-1980...

In case you had not noticed, the middle class has been shrinking for some time. I guess it will shrink some more.

Did the middle class increase in size from 1930 to 1980?

"1.Our military is hideously overpaid. We need to freeze their pay increases until they fall back to reasonable levels.
2. Privates in basic training make an obscene amount of money, their pay and benefits equal over 30,000 dollars a year on the outside."- sam the sham

E-1 pay grade = $17,366 per year. ( Pay for Private (E1) will be slightly lower for the first four months of service)

Now factor in eating in the chow hall, and sleeping in the barracks part of the year and a "shelter half" on the ground the other part of the year. And the medical facilities. Is that a $13,000 + value giving you the $ 30,000 + equality to the civilian world you speak of ? Perhaps it is.
However what job in the civilian world are you expected to give your life at a moments notice?
The closest comparison would be a police officer. But they are not expected to give up their lives in combat.
Whose Job is more hazerdous? And whose job puts more strain on their families?
I am really amazed to hear you say these things and actually believe it is only parody on your part. At least I hope so.
If any thing the service members are paid too little.
