Not a tax, anymore than mandatory driving insurance.

Doesn't make it right. I'd be happy if the mandate was tossed in favor of a public option, but it's not a tax.

Correct. Even though pretty much every president raises taxes, the assumption is that if people think they will or they do while in office, they will not get reelected. Some do get reelected and some do not. I think Bush Sr. is well known for his promise, "Read my lips, no new taxes" and he raised taxes. That was then played over and over again for the el ...[text shortened]... , but are oblivious to the fact that spending keeps going up. To me they are one in the same.
Yes, good point, the top income tax rate went down from 92% to 35% through a series of tax hikes.

Obamacare is an attempt by President Obama to give all Americans what most other industrialized countries offer there own citizens. Health care. Sadly the Conservative lawmakers have decided that only those who can obtain insurance should be allowed to have healthcare, so the public option was defeated. Not so complicated huh? (I apologize in advance for any spelling or punctuaction errors, since I know there are those who enjoy dwelling on such things.)

So Obama is justified in his lies so long as he accomplishes his goal?

This is totally bogus and you know it Kunsoo. If a person doesnt have auto insurance, they dont drive. We are not mandated to buy auto insurance.
In Obama care WE ARE mandated to buy insurance for the simple fact that we are alive and breathing.

True, but nearly impossible to get by in many parts of the country without driving.

Don't most adult Americans (especially in the countryside) own cars? Public transport in rural areas is pretty much non-existent so people are effectively forced to buy car insurance.

The point is we are not mandated or forced by the Government to buy auto insurance.

Driving is a privilege not a right. In most states if you want to put your shiny car on public highways the State has certain requirements. Annual registration, a licence, and yes in most states auto insurance. If you dont want to thats fine. You dont drive on the public roads.

With Obama care just the simple fact that you are alive and breathing you are being FORCED to buy something by the Federal government. Thats a big difference.

I was not aware trying to offer healthcare to all Americans was classified as a "lie'.

You could have someone else drive you. You could ride a bicycle. You might decide not to leave your home. No one forces you to buy car insurance.

Whether you like or dislike health insurance making someone buy a product like health insurance is very different than assuming someone would need something.

Either Obama felt it was necessary to tell people a lie to sell it because the American people are too stupid to know what is best for them or he sold them a bag of poo.

Those are the only options I can see.

Well, you could just leave the US and you wouldn't have to buy health insurance. See, no one is forcing you.

A better idea is to stay put and wait for SCOTUS to shoot it down as unconstitutional. Which it is.

If the government forcing you to pay for something was unconstitutional then taxes are unconstitutional. But who takes the SCOTUS seriously anyway? It's a political, not a judicial, institution.
