You who voted him in are in for a bad surprise.
It won't work out like you thought,
Goodbye Ukraine, Goodbye education. Goodbye rights for women, goodbye rights for everyone else. Project 2025 here we come., Sad day in the US. Sad CENTURY actually. We will maybe NEVER recover from this, the biggest mistake in US history.
@A-Unique-Nickname saidClearly, over 50% of America has that affliction or we wouldn't be seeing this twilight of a dream right now.
That's what happens when you allow a bunch of inbred imbeciles to decide who runs a country.
The very sad part is that by the time even the most manic fascists in America see what a mistake this is, it will be too late for all of us.
This makes the eventual "told you so" a bit sad and empty.
@Suzianne saidOn the brighter side of things, it does guarantee 4 more years of painful comedy.

The more serious question is how much damage will trump do to the democratic, judicial and civil service structures the US has? These are matters that will affect the US for decades to come.
@sonhouse saidYou know, I thought Donald Trump was the single biggest con man ever, but now I'm thinking that the first few billionaires who backed him while the rest of America laughed at him are the real architects of the demise of the greatest country on earth. I wonder what will be left when all the radioactive ruins of this great experiment in democracy are shoveled into the dustbin. I wonder if a new, bigger idea will be next on this continent, hopefully with a better people as stewards of it.

@Suzianne saidNo political system is perfect, in previous elections you had Bush and Trump winning with less votes than their opponent, for that to be even possible is just dumb.

UK system is also dumb but for different reasons, at you have a simple choice, one or the other.

We're crying bitter tears because we know what's coming. I hope the world is ready for it and cuts it off at the knees before it begins.
Maybe you can at least save yourselves.
@Suzianne saidTell me Suzie what you expect will happen. I want your view on this.

@Suzianne saidThank you, I'm trying to understand this very complex situation. I hoped Kamala Harris would do better and stronger support, but following the news last night I'm not surprised of the outcome - my view is irrelevant of course, I haven't followed the developments close enough. Thank you.
Fascism and control.
You thought Hitler was bad.
Just wait until narcissist Trump starts thinking that if he can take over America, what's to stop him from taking over the world.
Oh, it'll just be Americans paying for this mistake at first. The major signpost will be his attempts to stay in power the rest of his life. He was right about one thing. This will be th ...[text shortened]... m just being a hyperbolic sore loser, but this is the existential threat others have warned against.
@Torunn saidThe courts will be stacked with trump appointees.

Independence in the civil service will be destroyed. This means experts will be political appointees (yes men to the regime).
The republicans made some big promises, like deporting 11+ million immigrants, that they’ll need to keep. To do that they’ll need to build a deportation infratructure. Because you need foreign countries to participate, you will need deportation camps to hold people, etc.
That will not be pretty.
Healthcare will get destroyed. Tariffs will be introduced and the working Joe’s of the US will pay for it, like they always do.
Women’s rights to their own bodies are going to get slashed more than they already are.
trump will surround himself with yes men. People like Kennedy Jr. and the likes. Giving them important jobs, in which they can do what they want, because objective advice has been cut out of the system.
trump will go after everyone he perceives as an enemy to him (read: the state, the republican party, his own agenda). And they will be cut out of any position of power.
That is the start of what you’ll see the coming 12 months.
