Is Social Media the solution to racist politicians pretending to represent
the people? Perhaps the Italians have got it right in celebrating their
4x400 win in the Med. Games and their ethnic diversity at the same time.

You are literally taking the Dinosaur media tooting the horn of a viral left post as proof that social media is working for you...

But look at the actual numbers.

Since social media has become more prominent, the far right has risen exponentially throughout all of Europe and N. America. Indeed, haven't we all seen the rants that Pres. Trump is Lit-uh-ril-ly Hitler, on steroids?

This is basically because the narratives of the mainstream media do not hold up, and people have sought out alternatives and actively have been pursuing different world views.

It is also worth noting, though, that the far left has become stronger and more high profile, and that all manner of scholars of the age are suggesting that we are living in more polarized times, so it is not as if social media has served only the interests of the right.

    I think you are right.
The far right (and probably the far left) have been well served by social media. All
the loonies have (look at the proliferation of flat-earthers and conspiracy theorists).

But I think the tide may be turning, ordinary people (ie the majority with
non-extremist views) are showing their disapproval on social media.

    I hope so anyway.
