@mott-the-hoople saidSince he's so "pro-family", I'm sure he supports the Democrats' expansion of the child tax credit as well as national paid family leave and universal preschool. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/14/democrats-3point5-trillion-budget-package-funds-family-programs-clean-energy-medicare-expansion.html

@eladar saidNothing specifically. It does say:
@no1marauder
What does the Constitution say about the Federal Government and education?
"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States"
Article I, Section 8, paragraph 1
I'm sure JD Vance would agree that such pro-family policies would increase the "General Welfare" of Americans esp. since he endorsed a plan to give newly married couples a monetary bonus.

@no1marauder saidThe 10th amendment has reserved education to the states.

Of course we all know the Federal Government does not actually need to follow the Constitution.
You do not feel constrained by the Constitution, which is why you responded as you did.

@no1marauder saidwhy are liberals always wanting someone else to support them…its mind boggling.

As noted, we have a constitution, dems shred it at every opportunity, such as aca.

@mott-the-hoople saidSo everyone should go forth and pro-create just to support your vision of the "future" America.

The word in quotes is used loosely given your constant living in the past.

I responded the way I did, which was by quoting the Constitution, because you have an incorrect understanding of the document. I'm trying to help.

"Vance spoke fondly of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s pro-natal policies, explaining that “they offer loans to newly married couples that are forgiven at some point later if those couples have actually stayed together and had kids.”
“Why can’t we do that here?” Vance asked. “Why can’t we actually promote family formation?”"
Is Vance's proposal unconstitutional IYO?

@no1marauder saidDo you propose we enact all Hungarian policies to help create a child producing family environment?

@no1marauder saidThe Federal government gives money away all the time. It would just be par for the course.
I'm asking Mott whether he thinks Vance's proposal is unconstitutional. Feel free to give your opinion.
I think it's a bad idea but not an unconstitutional one.

@no1marauder saidThat is the answer. Constitutional or not, it is what is already being done.
Is that supposed to be an answer?
It is little different than the child tax credit.
I do not see why you are making a big deal out of this.
