@Cliff-Mashburn saidI strongly disagree with any attempt to belittle the Democratic Party. Although they appear to be no longer viable as a serious political party, they can be a great dating club for like-minded people ..
describes them perfectly:

- Trans sportsmen

@Soothfast saidGaslighting is when you try to make someone thing they're crazy (or at least outlandish) for taking a position that's either accurate or at least defensible.
To make your case here you would need to demonstrate the existence of a significant portion of the population that's constituted of individuals who subscribe to both beliefs simultaneously. If nothing else, I hope you discern the failing in your logic.
Also, I do not think you know what "gaslighting" means, exactly. It does not mean advancing or harboring two diametrically opposed versions of reality, which is more suitably called doublethink.
If you're a Star Trek person, the episode where the Cardassians capture Picard and spend the whole episode trying to convince him that there were 5 lights, when there were actually 4, is the quintissential example.
Gaslighting is a common tactic to "break" the other person in some sort of relationship by planting doubt in their minds as to their competency. For example, if one partner puts on a jacket to go outside and the other partner says "Are you crazy? It's warm outside. Why on Earth do you need a jacket?" when it's really 47 degrees outside, that would be a subtle but common example. The abusive partner is (whether by design or not) wearing down the victim by making the victim second-guess all of their thought processes.
At any rate, when the same media outlets (e.g., CNN, MSNBC, the Atlantic) and politicians (e.g., Andrew Cuomo), told us:
1. In April and May, that the people agitating for re-opening were practically domestic terrorists who were Hell-bent on "experiments in human sacrifice" (that's a headline from the Atlantic... look it up)
2. Completely ignored covid ramifications of the George Floyd protests or told us, with a straight face, that mass protests had zero role in spreading covid.
3. When the protests were winding down, that it was unsafe to open schools because of covid...
that's classic gaslighting. They were telling us to ignore covid when it came to protests but that we must take covid seriously when it came to schools and businesses. And then, if you disagreed or questioned the consistency, you were labelled a right wing nut who is out to kill Grandma, and your own integrity, motives and common sense were attacked.
I'm not even going to bother going back into 2020 for the headlines (which are capable of being cherry picked anyway). Everyone that lived through it knows it happened.
@Very-Rusty saidAnyone else here that does this, why do you single him out?
Cliff,
Watch your language!! You can spell it incorrectly but it stands out like a sore thumb would.

@Very-Rusty saidHe is nowhere near the top of doing this, that would be your lib buddies here so I say Bs to you!
When I see it I will always point it out, regardless of who it is. I don't see everything that is said as I don't have that kind of time.
Thanks for your understanding in this matter.

Perhaps you should spend more time working on your Clan than in the forums looking at every single thing that is said, takes a lot of time away from your making challenges. Unlike yourself I play in Hundreds of chess games so don't have the time to look at everything said. What part of that would you not understand???

More likely someone gaslit you into thinking that CNN was gaslighting you.
@Very-Rusty saidHa ha little Rusty let’s see if you have the moral clarity to do that with lib post that far outnumber the conservative post. The fact something so small and quickly done shows the huge bias of this site. Mods are little leftest clowns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
