This is interesting
A well spoken Albert Speer on the same subject matter as Admiral Donitz.

I have no idea what to think of it.
Opinions?

It’s very interesting!

Albert Speer was the only Nazi figure head at the Nuremberg trials to show any form of remorse. However, his denials of actually participating in the holocaust are questionable.
Donitz was the admiral (of the German navy... well, obviously of the navy) and took over the role of chancellor of Germany after Hitler’s suicide (for a short period).
He feels no remorse. Says he didn’t even know about the holocaust.

Speer is very charming and Donitz comes across as a strict soldier and not very likable.

Just historically interesting.

Speer escaped the hangman's noose because the Tribunal found certain mitigating circumstances in his case and none in Sauckel's:

"In mitigation it must be recognised that Speer's establishment of blocked industries did keep many labourers in their homes and that in the closing stages of the war he was one of the few men who had the courage to tell Hitler that the war was lost and to take steps to prevent the senseless destruction of production facilities, both in occupied territories and in Germany. He carried out his opposition to Hitler's scorched earth programme in some of the Western countries and in Germany by deliberately sabotaging it at considerable personal risk."

Technically, Sauckel was not Speer's subordinate though the Nazi chain of command was, at times, murky:

" Although he [Speer] had advocated the appointment of a General Plenipotentiary for the Utilisation of Labour because he wanted one central authority with whom he could deal on labour matters, he did not obtain administrative control over Sauckel. Sauckel was appointed directly by Hitler under the decree of 21st March, 1942, which provided that he should be directly responsible to Goering, as Plenipotentiary of the Four-Year Plan."

Doenitz got the lightest sentence of any of those convicted at the Nuremberg Trials - 10 years - though it is not easy to figure out exactly what he was sentenced for: https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/nuremberg-trial-judgements-karl-doenitz

My "misleading post" is from the actual trial judgments at Nuremberg which Duchy attempts to refute with a Wikipedia article.
