Is Obama doing the right things as Warren Buffet said?

I'd like to hear from Telerion especially, our resident economist.

I don't know all the details of the stimulus plan, but one thing the US economy needs is to raise taxes for the wealthy to redistribute wealth, and Obama isn't doing that, or at least not to the extent that is needed.

Well so long as Warren Buffet and Telerion say he is doing the right thing, what possible worries do you have?

Of course, you may want to update your knowledge regarding Buffets support of the President. He has recently been quoted as saying that he has heard Democrats saying that, "a crisis is a terrible thing to waste" as they push through as much pork and earmarks and tax increases as they can with the proposed legislation. In addition, he is an outspoken critic of the new cap and trade proposed legislation calling it a "regressive tax" on the populace at large.

I respect Buffet and Telerion. I haven't yet met anyone else on this forum whose economic analysis I respect. Mostly it's just ignorant partisan bickering.

Perhaps if you wanted to offer your own opinion...

The u.s. economy is based on capitalism, not socialism. Income redistribution goes against that, plue is doesn't work. If Obama wanted to do that he wouldn't even call it income redistribution because he knows that won't fly in America. Here you get rewarded for working hard, not penalized---although the wealthy already pay the vast majority of tax. It's almost at 50%, so are you saying we should take .50 of every dollar a wealthy person makes?

Yawn. In what sense does it "not work"?

And why do you believe how hard one works is proportional to how much money one makes? By that logic the average Norwegian works twice as hard as the average American. Do they?
