i've got 100Gb hardfile space just begging to be used. If this game is going to make me go on a killing spree, i don't think i should download it, but my question is this...
If i did go on a killing spree because of this game, would it be RBHill's fault for letting me know it exists ?
Yes it would. God has already indicated to me that RBHill will be burning in hell for all eternity for mentioning it.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundThe game probably was a factor and mentioning the game probably does have an effect. But, in all fairness, mentioning the game is probably not the same as promoting the game. However, I seriously doubt that the game was a decisive factor. I'm inclined to believe that in cases like this the "game" being played is more properly a symptom than a cause.
Maybe i'm wrong, but the asumption of the original poster was that the game may've been to blame for the act, please correct me if i am wrong. The killer might've read the bible before the murders aswell, or went to the toilet, or . . .went bowling.
If the game was a factor in the act, then any promotion of the game also has cause and effect. . . i hope that wasn't too howard .
Originally posted by DelmerI tend to side with Bill if his assumption was that the game was the trigger. If the guy was suffering from some emotional trauma, or had some psychological problems, then i think the mirroring of the games outcome was proof that it had a part in what happened.

Whether the guy would've commited murder if the game didn't exist, that is the question.
Does a game like this cause people to murder ? no, in my opinion.
Should the game have existed in the first place? . . .i would also have to say no.

You can't butter up an excuse.

Originally posted by DoctorScribblesAgain, we are back to correlation vs. causality. Do people who are inching towards madness first "act out" by playing games? Or watching violent TV shows over and over? Or writing out and daydreaming plans to kill over and over? Probably all three. But does any of this affect what will eventually happen? Very hard to say.
I think the game caused him to do it.
Most of these adult nuts are schizophrenic. Schizophrenia is a disease of the mind that occurs in about 1% of the human population worldwide. Ted Kazinsky had this diagnosis. It's a degnerative and progressive disease with no cure, although there are relatively effective drug treatments. The biggest problem is that many schizophrenics eventually go off their meds.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundno different than playing any other game where you go around killing people. Or is it just the name of the game that is disturbing you.
I never knew that game existed until now. . .what would be the moral implications of me downloading it?
Would it be any different if it was the exact same game except it was called something like School Yard Bully?
