War is boring?
Trump didn't start a war.
By the measure of human lives how does Trump compare to Obama? How many people killed?
All presidents are horrible. All we are measuring is who the lesser evil is. You are simply judging him for his moronic statements. Moronic statements don't kill a lot of people though.
But I think a good pause would to put out a question something like.....
If a group of terrorists would have flown an airliner into a tall building, something like a World Trade Center, while Trump was President, would a war have ensued ??
Give it some thought.
And I will carry on here.......
In my opinion (as a non-historian), wars are usually started by someone throwing a match on a powder keg.
Generally, the powder keg has been around for some time before the match was thrown.
You can state with full confidence that Trump hasn't thrown the match during his time in office.
But he has sure been busy adding to the powder keg, either through his own vision for America or through sheer geopolitical naivete and incompetence.
The next President has his work cut out for him repairing the damage done to global stability.
Starting Jan 20th.
@metal-brain saidThe indictments didn’t lead to convictions because the accused were Russian agents who fled to Russia and won’t be extradited.
Indictments are not convictions. They are mere allegations.
@metal-brain saidTrump will have racked up over 300,000 unnecessary fatalities by the end of his watch. In peacetime. A record. But not one to crow about.

@sonhouse saidSo Trump stumbled and dropped a vial of experimental virus and caused the whole thing? You can't blame people for a pandemic unless you can prove it came from their lab somewhere.

@moonbus saidNope. People get indicted and never convicted all of the time.
The indictments didn’t lead to convictions because the accused were Russian agents who fled to Russia and won’t be extradited.
Indictments don't prove guilt. Besides, Mueller has a history of going on witch hunts. Ask Hatfill.

What damage? Foreign policy is not much different than it was before he took office. He didn't start a war. Seems like the world is pretty stable.

You can conduct one with gross disregard for civilian deaths for one thing:
"Civilian deaths skyrocketed in Afghanistan under President Donald Trump, whose administration relaxed the rules of engagement for airstrikes in 2017, according to a new study from the Costs of War Project at Brown University.
"The number of civilians killed by international airstrikes increased about 330 percent from 2016, the last full year of the Obama Administration, to 2019, the most recent year for which there is complete data from the United Nations," Neta C. Crawford, who led the study, wrote in a report on the findings. "The restraints on airstrikes are intended to save civilian lives, and the restraints generally do: the evidence shows that civilian casualties due to airstrikes decrease."
Airstrikes killed 700 civilians in Afghanistan in 2019 alone, more than any other year since the early days of the war in 2002, according to the study. "There were more weapons dropped from the air in 2018 and 2019 than at the height of US presence in Afghanistan in 2011," the report stated.
The US, its allies, and the Afghan government killed an average of 582 civilians per year from 2007 to 2016. The annual average of civilians killed rose by nearly 95% from 2017 through 2019 to 1,134 each year."

Or you can give increased support to a brutal proxy war by an "ally":
"According to estimates provided by the report, at least 86 civilians were killed in airstrikes and raids carried out in Yemen on Trump’s watch. Most of these killings occurred during the years 2017 and 2018. In the context of U.S. military operations in Yemen, these two years were some of the most active in terms of strikes — and the deadliest for civilians. The full U.S. war effort in Yemen contains different components: raids and airstrikes carried out by the military, a separate covert campaign involving drones and other measures carried out by the CIA, and finally the indirect support provided by the U.S. to a Saudi-led coalition waging a separate, devastating war against Yemen’s Houthi rebel forces."
"After more than five years of war, millions find themselves on the brink of starvation in what was already one of the world’s poorest countries. Trump has been glad to oversee the intensification of this crisis, bombing and carrying out raids in the country periodically, as well as arming foreign states like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to aid in their own campaigns. In 2019, Trump even failed to take an off-ramp in Yemen: He issued his second presidential veto in order to block a move by Congress to end U.S. involvement in the war."
Or you can intensify bombings in other countries:
"U.S. airstrikes in Somalia hit record levels under Trump, even as the country buckles under the pressure of the coronavirus. "

There's little doubt that Trump has left the Middle East an even bloodier, intractable mess that it was 4 years ago with his absurdly blind support for Israel and Saudi Arabia and his unremitted hostility to the Palestinians and Iran.
@Metal-Brain
You completely ignore the FACT JACK Trump KNEW the virus was deadly AND airborne in JANUARY but downplayed it EVERY DAY since then.
Now he even says China is the one attacking our computers.
And you think he is your god king.
DISGUSTING.
@no1marauder saidObama killed more people. He dropped so many bombs he ran out of bombs. On a death count basis Obama is the greater evil.

@sonhouse saidAll of his advisors told him it was no big deal, including Fauci. Fauci deserves a lot of blame for it. Trump was just listening to the experts. Too bad they are incompetent people with conflicts of interest.

I could be like you and say "what is the source of your information" esp. since the data I already presented shows that civilian deaths per year in Afghanistan almost doubled under Trump.
But you are trying to change the subject, aren't you?
@sonhouse saidYes. Look at Yemen. Obama started that though. Plenty of evil from all presidents.
@Metal-Brain
Ah, GREATER evil. So you admit your god King Trump IS evil.
