Well, I knew this would happen, as it has every year since I have lived here. property taxes went up 100.00 a month. Which means, even when the house is finally paid for, I will probably still be making a payment that is just as large as the one for the original debt. You actually will never own your home. That is a fantasy.
And how do you fight that? You can't.
And that is why I basically vote no on anything that will raise taxes.
So the concept some people have here, of us owning property, is mis-guided. You may eventually get a title for the property, but you will never own anything, that can't be taken away.

But if you don't vote for taxes your property value might go down!! 😲

As the US becomes increasingly Marxist, I think you will find that the notion of owning property has gone by the wayside. A better way of looking at it is renting from Big Brother.

wyoming? democratic outgoing governor?

check out prop 13 in california, from the 70s.

property tax increases are limited, and increases in your taxable value are limited as well. home values are revalued to the current market only when they are sold.

Property taxes are mainly devoted to funding the local school system. Why not look at what your local school system is spending money on, get together with your neighbors, and propose ways for that school system to spend less.

No Oregon. There is a law limiting them to 3.5 % a year,, but the values are going down, so I didn't expect a hundred bucks more.

What a bunch of whining fools. No thought at all on how to fund the schools.

And Marxism? That statement is so, so naive and I think you all know that. If you don't, then you need to hit the books.

How about quit complaining all the time and start offering solutions. Of course that is a lot harder than whining day after day..

ok, since i drive 4 x4 s lets stop fixing pot holes. The ground is a sink hole, and there is no way to fix them anyway.
And lets stop dredging the bars of the Columbia, Umpqua, and let the sailors foot the bill.
Let us pump or own gas, cause we're out checking the oil anyway.
Using explosives to blow up dead whales appears to be on it's way out, for some cleaner way to do so.. maybe a bio-fuel site?

Argh, it's just frustrating when you think you can actually own something. A myth.

Yeah, what a great idea! It just did wonders for their public schools, didn't it?

they should quit buying laptops, for one thing. just use thin clients with servers, linux-based. kids don't need much unless they're playing high-powered games.

As the gap between rich and poor widens, the US becomes increasingly Marxist. In whodey's world, it's possible.
