Teaching College Students about Racism in US History

Debates

Sorry, can't do it - it's too "divisive" according to the Louisiana GOP: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/[WORD TOO LONG]/ar-AA19VjfV?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=227db6e97bdb44b7b717249e403cbd83&ei=34

They get told about racism from the cradle they don't need any college classes to keep repeating it.

They're grown ups; what purpose does it serve whitewashing the unpleasant aspects of the US' history?

Apparently just to justify continued racism.

You are correct, but if the "racism" they teach is about US History, like slavery, then it is a story that must be told, IMO.

I personally do not have a problem with teaching the students that almost all slaves were owned by Democrats.

Or that all the Southern Democrats had become Republicans by 1930.

How come you seemingly do?

What would be the difference in having a class, Racism 101, and a class, Murder 101.
They are both negative concepts, both prevalent, yet you libs are being quite selective to pick the one that suits you. Frankly, I figure you don't pick the other, as it might shine a little unwanted light on an aspect of our society which you would like to go unnoticed!

Would someone please give me a thumbs up on this post.

You Republicans always make the debate mistake of thinking that we think like you do.

Is this why you don't like to talk about real racism, preferring to couch it in other terms (like "culture" )?

And I'll give you a thumb-up when you deserve it, not before. So far, nothin'. Sorry, not sorry.

Contrare', I make a good point. I wonder why you segue from my post? You unbelievably ask me a question about 'why' I do something, when why is irrelevant, and your comment is irrelevant. It is not about me, Suzianne. It is about comparing Racism 101 to Murder 101. Equally bad facts of life.
Suck it up and say Joe, you have a good issue here. Can you be the one to give me a thumb up? Geeez. You are the contrarian that Marauder is.

Kids are taught about evil racist America from kindergarten on, they don't need any more training in how to hate America in college or anyplace else, we are constantly bombarded with media claims of how awful the USA is......while whites are led like lambs to the slaughter.

JJ is right. All this does is divide D'Quanya from Billy, sitting next to her in class. Making her resentful. Building up the hate. Why don't sociologists follow the thinking of JJ and AvJoe.?

Better question,, Susieanne, why do you insist on talking about racism so much? Answer us that!

The only reason why you want to talk about racism is so you can browbeat people and you know it.

You want to talk about racism,, Susie?? Ok, why are you such a racist??

Thought for the day:

Has anyone actually seen a liberal talking about how to pare down racism?

I never have.
