I was thinking about how American or European Jews have a specific term for discrimination against them: antisemitism.

Now that I think of it: does any other group of whites have an "ism" or "phobia"? I can't think of any. Uzbeks might face Islamophobia but that's not a form of bigotry exclusive to them the way antisemitism is to Jews.

And yes, I get Arabs like Palestinians are technically "Semites" but who really uses that term to describe them?

As far as I know, there's no specific name for bigotry against the Irish, English, Swedish, etc. There are derogatory terms for them like "Mick", "Polack", etc., but not an actual term for bigotry against them like there is for the Chinese (Sinophobia).

Actually: why isn't there a specific term for bigotry against other Asians like there is for China? After all, the Japanese were put into internment camps during WWII. There's also no specific terms for discrimination against Arabs ("antisemitic" doesn't count) Native Americans, blacks, whites, etc.

I have no real point here. Just musings.

I predict in these (incel) times of men feeling discriminated against, the term "misandry" will gain popularity in the next few years.

I've always disliked "phobia" as a suffix for terms denoting discrimination. Never made sense when words like arachnophobia exist.

When I first heard the term "homophobia" as a kid, I thought it meant fear of others thinking one was gay. Like if a guy complimented another man's shirt and added "no homo".

You could be suggesting then, that the term antisemitic is, in its very precision, antisemtic in nature?

That’s an interesting take.

Instead of -phobia try using -philia or -phone for other interesting words

What’s anglophobia?

That just sounds like a reality check, weighing the sassanachs and finding them guilty, if you ask me.

I’m with you of course. I loved talking smack about the Anglos until I started feeling guilty about it.
