Texas COVID-19 hospitalizations see 150% increase in last month
Last week, the state’s health commissioner noted a 150% increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations between June 27 and July 20. Dr. John Hellerstedt, the commissioner of the department of state health services, noted that the delta variant makes up most new cases in Texas.

@eladar saidEven if we were to callously accept that eleven deaths in one day is "far from concerning", there's still the issue of a huge spike in people suffering in hospitals.
Just saying the numbers are far from concerning as a medical emergency.
You're also missing the point: the Republican governor recently banned government buildings and schools from requiring masks and banned businesses from requiring proof of vaccination.
And look at the results.

Just saying the numbers are far from concerning as a medical emergency.
As sure as night follows day, an increase in cases leads to more deaths in the weeks following.

COVID comes in waves. It did last summer in Texas as well.
Texas had been living normally at least since late winter (and arguably since last Spring). COVID fell this Spring with substantially similar COVID rules (or lack thereof).
I have seen no evidence that mask mandates are correlated to better COVID outcomes.
