Is Texas really a booming state?
My wife has had friends who lived there and haven't found a job in a long long long time. They were both in the service but left after their four years was up. 😕 They live in a small town near Arlington, Texas.

Comptroller’s Weekly Economic Outlook
Comptroller Susan Combs
Updated April 25, 2014
Job growth, sales tax collections and building permits all signal that the Texas economy continues to outpace the national economy.
Over the past year, Texas added jobs in all of the 11 major industries, including professional and business services, trade, transportation and utilities, leisure and hospitality, education and health services, construction, mining and logging, government, financial activities, information, other services, and manufacturing.
Pre-recession Texas employment peaked at 10,638,100 in August 2008, a level that was surpassed in November 2011, and by March 2014 Texas added an additional 769,400 jobs. In the U.S. as a whole, only 95 percent of recession-hit jobs were recovered by March 2014.
Texas and the nation returned to economic growth in 2010 and 2011, respectively. In calendar 2012, Texas real gross domestic product grew by 4.8 percent, compared with 2.5 percent for the U.S.

which might not be so bad:

Once again Plano, Texas takes the number one spot in our best cities list! Forbes and CNN Money magazines also both agree that Plano offers amazing opportunities for families. Forbes has also reported that Plano as the safest city in America. Beyond being safe, Plano also boasts a school system that ranks very high compared to other schools systems in the nation. Plano has an 8th grade graduation rate of almost 95%. Safety and great schools make Plano ideal for families. Feeling like a night out on the town? Entertainment is never far away. Plano is in extremely close proximity to the night life of Dallas. In fact, you even have access to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit to make your travels to and from home easy.
