Meaningless rhetoric, but as we all know some people are susceptible to that.

Apparently not too many people, considering the rabid response it received from the media and the british public in general. As a matter of fact it appears to be the case that hardly anyone came to offer wholehearted support to the coalition's somewhat nebulous concept.

Cameron's "Big Society" seems to me to be directly borrowed from Bush. Like Bush, Cameron will never provide the resources to make his ideas realistic, but simply will misuse rhetoric about voluntarism to claim a mask of decency while ripping the heart out of social care in every guise.
