A garden gnome giving the Nazi salute has landed a German artist in trouble with the authorities in Nuremberg.
Prosecutors are investigating whether the gnome, which went on show in one of the city's galleries, breaks the strict law banning Nazi symbols and gestures.
There are few things I despise more than the pigs who tried to exterminate my ancestors... but sometimes I feel that it's getting too far. I mean, I am all for the ban of Nazi propaganda and Nazi manifestations... but... a gnome? Gee!
What do you think?
Originally posted by SeitseIt just serves as a layer of isolation between the masterminds of the whole thing, and the perpetrators. The nazies were filth but they were just a tool. Blame the tool instead of the user. I personally think there is a lot of symbology an artist could put on a gnome that would be offensive. Hard to say without seeing it.

The picture shows a gnome giving a typical middle earth kind of wave, or maybe a Vulcan greeting. Could even be the old fashioned American Flag Salute which was used for 50 years when reciting the Pledge Of Allegiance:

Lot of foolishness over nothing.
